Attempted the reverse of the course I call the Gungahlin Drive Extension. And no I didn't go for a run on the notorious road works in Canberra, it is an extension on the famous 8 mile run in Yass to make it into a half marathon (21.1km) For some reason I came up with this silly name.
Anyway, I always get a bit nervous about doing the reverse of a well known course. All of a sudden the easy bits become hard, the uphills become downhill and vice versa. Today I was very nervous about going reverse especially the big downhill reward after a sharp uphill being inverted to a long uphill incline, so much so that I talked myself into walking at 12km. After 3 mins I collected myself and ran the remainder of the hill and realized it was not as long as I had thought. I plodded along to finish 22kms but felt lazy for having to walk half way through. You can't dominate all the time can you and it's another run to add to the bank!

Back into the swing of things
Got up early this morning for the first run of the get fit phase of my training plan. Freezing cold to start and battling a fair bit. Half way through the sun started shining and it was worth getting out of bed. Made it up the massive hill near franklins non stop and completed 8kms, but when I went to check runkeeper the gps didnt work! How annoying, no splits or anything. Wouldnt have been a good time or anything so probably good that it didnt work.
Plan for this week, Today = 8kms, Tues = rest, Wed = 8kms, Thurs = rest, Friday = 8kms, Saturday = rest, Sunday is 8 mile! You can do it!!!
Netball tomorrow, game on!

Getting back into it
After the disappointment of the 2010 Canberra Marathon being cancelled and then postponed to a date when I was overseas, the loss of all running fitness, the end of another season of rugby, its time to pursue the ultimate challenge again, to run the marathon distance of 42.195 km's.
Day 1 of training begins tomorrow, its going to be tough getting started again!
